Yo Majesty, Natalie Stewart, Boy Eats Drum Machine
[CRUNK GIRRRL SCOUT COOKIES] Taking a double-dutch cue from ladies of rage before them (think MC Lyte, Queen Latifah, Tha Brat, Total, Missy Elliott and Lil’ Kim) and increasing the sale of XXL-size wife beaters everywhere, dirty South Florida MCs Shunda K. and Jwl B. make up the rapping group Yo Majesty. Quick-lipped, estrogen-fueled, unabashedly explicit and sassy as shhh, last year’s popular single “Club Action” (whose chorus is “Fuck that shit!”), made club walls thump for days. Unfortunately, Jwl B is a late scratch from the lineup, so we have to hope that Shunda K. can hold it down by herself. And in an awesome but totally out-of-the-blue pairing, Boy Eats Drum Machine—our local answer to Beck—opens what should be an eclectic show. SARA MOSKOVITZ. 9 pm.
